Q: When does the event start?

A: Check-In and on-site registration will take place from 9:00 am - 10:15 am.

Q: What time does the Walk start?

A: The Walk will begin at 10:30 am. Join your team, lace up your shoes, and most importantly – remember to have fun!

Q: When is the Post-Walk Celebration?

A: At 11:30 am, join your team and fellow walkers for food, music and fellowship! There will be food trucks, so remember to bring money for lunch!

Q: Where do I park once I arrive?

A: Limited parking spaces are available in the bump outs and pull-off spaces located along Lake of the Isles.Free parking lots are also available in many areas throughout Lake of the Isles. Pay parking lots will have signs; free Parking lots will not

Q: How long is the Walk for Recovery?

A: 2.86 miles, or 4.6 kilometers. The walk begins and ends across the street from Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church at 2020 W. Lake of the Isles Pkwy. The walk takes roughly 1 hour to complete. Rest stops are available along the route with restrooms. First aid will also be available.

Q: Where should I turn in money raised offline?

A: Any money raised offline (cash or checks) can be turned in on the day of the walk at the t-shirt booth. Place all your offline contributions in an envelope, along with the completed Oflline Donation Form, and hand it in to volunteers at the T-shirt tent on the day of the Walk!

Q: I didn’t register online. Can I still participate?

A: Yes, we offer on-site registration. Be sure to check in with one of the registration volunteers upon your arrival.

Q: How do I join or create a team?

A: To join someone’s team, just search for their team name when you register. If you are creating a new team, be sure to tell all your friends, family and co-workers your team name so they can find your team when they register!

Q: If I donate money for The Walk for Recovery, where does that money go?

A: All of the money raised stays here in Minnesota and supports Minnesota Recovery Connection’s mission to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education and advocacy. For more information about Minnesota Recovery Connection, visit www.minnesotarecovery.org

Q: How is Minnesota Recovery Connection funded?

A: MRC receives funding from government grants and community foundations, but also depends greatly on private contributions and the money raised at special events such as the Walk for Recovery.

Q: What does Minnesota Recovery Connection do in my community?

A: Minnesota Recovery Connection strengthens the recovery community by providing programs and services that help people achieve and sustain addiction recovery. MRC also advocates for recovery by rallying the community and putting a positive face on recovery. For every single person that MRC helps to initiate and/or maintain recovery, many people benefit, including their family, their employer and coworkers, their neighbors, and their friends.

Q: Is Minnesota Recovery Connection a 501(c)3 organization?

A: Yes, Minnesota Recovery Connection is exempt from the payment of federal income taxes and is entitled to receive tax-deductible contributions. Minnesota Recovery Connection’s Federal Tax ID # is 41-1948764.

Q: How much of my donation to the Walk for Recovery can I deduct from my taxes?

A: Your donation to the Walk for Recovery is fully tax-deductible.

Q: Are there other ways to give to the Walk for Recovery besides money?

A: Yes, financial donations are only one way to give to the Walk for Recovery. You may volunteer to work at the Walk or at MRC anytime during the year.
